Bergen (pronounced bear-gen) is a beautiful well preserved old city dating back as far as 1070. The city economy and wealth was based on the fishing industry up until recent times.

The historic Bryggen district is the centre of its attraction with colourful wooden merchant's buildings, now home to shops, restaurants and bars.

Cruise along the Fjords

The fjord cruise was on an old Norwegian Ice Breaker - MS Bruvik, that had seen better days. Unfortunately the weather turned cold and miserable, so it wasn't as good a trip as may have been. Still I did get to steer the boat for a couple of minutes.
